Attack of The Killer Kiwi

Not sure what was going on … I was … nervous … or maybe it was that I am still fighting this stupid cold and have now been hacking for almost 2 weeks, I don’t know …

WHATEVE …I was worked up about tonight … and in anticipation of the night inagural session, I finally used my inhaler …

ONLY to realise that the expiry date was 2 months ago … then I got all antsy and anxious … took forever to get my bike unlocked and get out of the house …

BUT it was a lovely ride to the gym … warm, sunny, streets alive with the buds of cherry and apple blossoms

DAVE - He is nice, but is no softie and worked me out … and I was hurtin’….

WITHIN a few minutes of getting settled, in it was fine, my paranoia began to subside …

HE didn’t messy around and we got right into it …

IT started with overall warm up exercises, so many squats and bends ... shit, I was already feeling it …

THEN we got serious with a fancy bunch of wall squats, medicine ball lunges, cable pulls, leg curls, bench presses and crunches ...

IT was totally what I had hoped for – Real exercise, not just me kinda following some print out from a magazine or a webpage - with actual form critique and corrections, timing guidance, and access to lots of different types of equipment like: swiss and bosu balls, cable and free weight and a few different medicine balls – all the stuff I don’t/can't have at home …

I GOT a crazy good sweat on … just what I needed

EVEN got awesome stretch out at the end … I was a pretzel

POURED myself outta there after somehow managing to book the next few sessions and

RODE home in the sunset …

Overall Grade on the Session: A+

The First Meeting …

I’m back from my first meeting at the gym …

It’s a nice, clean place with loads of cardio equipment, a small ladies area, a few studio rooms for classes and a great trainer only section.

Signed my life away and met with Dave, the Kiwi that is gonna kick my ass.

I was, as stated below, nervous about having a dude train me, but after meeting him and spending the better part of an hour talking to him about my goals, I realised it will be good fit.

He likes to focus on free weights, swiss ball and cable exercises (which I have never done) so it’s a perfect fit, since I hate the weight machines and much prefer to use free weights and am DYING to get more use out of the swiss ball.

After that it was truth time – Weigh-In, Measurements and all that horrible stuff.

I am heavier than I thought by 3 pounds and my measurements were way off - UGH!

Well, I guess nothing like the ugly TRUTH smacking you in the face to get you moving.

Thursday is the first day of actual training … and I know he is gonna make me sweat … and I can’t wait!

Starting Back at the Gym ...

Well tonight I have my offical tour of the gym and a meeting with my new ass kicker - Dave

Not sure how I feel about a dude being my trainer but we'll see how it goes. Something tells me it will be fine and I am just being paranoid.

Also a tad on the nervous side as I have not worked out in 2 full weeks ... and I know that its gonna hurt when I get going again ...

BUT - No Pain, NO GAIN

Wish me Luck!

Time to Kick it Up a Notch

Remember the reason from this blog...

Why did I start this blog anyway...

I had a goal...

What has happened to that goal...

Why have I not had the success that I had hope for...

How bad do I want to reach those goals...

Clearly not bad enough...

But something has changed...

And now I want it more than ever...

What do I need to do to get to my goals...

I have been actively working towards my 2009 weight loss goal of 28 lbs...

So far have achieved a loss of only 10 lbs...

But have shed 12 inches off my bust, waist and hips...

I believe I am at the point where I need to get my butt kicked...

This is what I am going to do...

I have hired a personal trainer...

Let the ass kicking begin...

Week 3.V2 - Losing It!

I am losing it ... inches that is!

There aren't many things one wants to lose, but that does not apply to inches and pounds - I will gladly give them up!

Apparently this new ass-busting regime is working and I even though it's HARD and even sometime kinda painful, if I can see results in a week, I am hooked.

Here are my happy weekly numbers

Bust: 34
Waist: 29
Hips: 38

Overall Inches Lost:
Bust: -4
Waist: -4
Hips: -4

Total Inches: -12

Now since I am preparing to leave on Sunday for a two week road trip to California, I will not be able to do the workouts as planned, but I will improvise in the hotel rooms and camp sites.

Wish me Luck!

Week 2.V2 - Better Late Than Never

Well, I'm late again with my posting. Sorry, but life has seemingly gotten in the way.

While I am still on track with my new goals and feeling good about it, I have also decided to kick up the workouts a notch and have embarked on the new regime, aptly named the Belly-Off Club, via Woman's Health Magazine.

My first workout was on Monday and my legs still hurt.

I am off to the gym in a hour and have to admit that the Wednesday workout looks just as hard as the Monday one and I have no idea if I will be able to walk after it - LOL

But its all good - Working big muscle groups, using super sets to get max results and before I know it, 8 weeks will have passed and hopefully with them a few lbs and even more inches.

Week 2 - No changes so far but I know they will arrive - Its all about the positive outlook :)
